I tried restarting both devices, turning notifications on-off, hide alerts on and off and so on but nothing worked. One thread mentioned un-pair and re-pair. I tried doing so and it worked for an existing group. I was happy. A few weeks passed and a new group shows up that needs hide alerts, problem persists.
